From time to time Aurum revisits and questions its purpose as an organisation by asking three simple questions:
Are we relevant?
Are we useful?
Do we have an impact?
Our purpose as investors
Is to deliver reliable, consistent and uncorrelated returns. Our track record demonstrates that Aurum's investment solutions endure over the long-term, weathering differing market conditions.
Ultimately, we see our value as being providers of non-replicable and truly differentiated investment solutions that enhance our clients' portfolios.
Aurum doesn't set out to give people jobs; but rather to invite people to join us to establish and build a career. Aurum has over 50 employees worldwide and over 70% have been part of the Aurum group for over 5 years.
Whether in London, Bermuda or South Africa, we strive to make Aurum a great place to work and a group that people are proud to be part of.
Our purpose as stewards
In the context of investment management this is about providing exceptional client service backed up by a governance structure that meets the highest standards.
As business managers Aurum puts in considerable time and effort to ensure that the right systems and controls are in place for the effective management of the business.
Aurum takes the responsibility for properly managing our business seriously. Our clients can be assured that the organisation responsible for managing their money has a strong corporate governance and risk management culture.
We apply the same rigour to the way we operate our business as we apply to managing portfolios.
Our purpose as global citizens
We are committed to considering environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. ESG underpins the firm’s business philosophy which drives our goal to have a positive social and environmental impact. Our areas of focus are: transforming children's lives through education, health and child protection, and the critically important theme of protecting the environment.
We address these goals by our close involvement and support of Ark, the London based children's charity that Kevin Gundle, CEO of Aurum Funds Limited, co-founded; and our support for Synchronicity Earth, a UK based environmental conservation charity co-founded by Adam Sweidan, CIO of Aurum Research Limited.
Aurum's commitment to giving back and supporting Ark and Synchronicity Earth is unwavering and as such, our purpose as an organisation is to ensure that we have the resources to have a meaningful impact on the world's natural habitats and to enrich the lives of children through innovative education and outstanding healthcare interventions.
